Hi,
I came across this Vintage Atlas acoustic guitar a while ago...been meaning to email you because I have never seen nor heard of another one like this... I ended up buying it for 50 bucks from a guy in Reading PA.  It had been dried out but not cracked yet but it did need a neck reset (which I did myself with a lot of help from YouTube and the local guitar shop) kudos to me. The glue failed at the neck joint, the neck was aligned, it was just loose.
The guitar had smooth honey colored laminate spruce top, which sounded nice and cheery - a touch hollow but still bright - also, a dove tail neck joint, nice level frets & a snug bridge and nut. It reminded me of a Martin D28 with the inlay around the body – but with square fret markers…go figure…any ideas what it was modeled after???
My knowledge of guitars wasn't what it is today. I up and sold it for $90 after I strummed her enough to make up for all the lost time she suffered while not in the right hands. The bigger reason was that I wanted an American made axe, so when I researched and found the guitar was not made in the US, that’s when she went up for sale.
The sticker in the sound hole read Atlas "Diane" Hicksville NY.... I called Sam Ash in Hicksville, on a tip that the guitar might have been sold in their stores, no luck there.  Probably the best part if the guitar was the cool phoe- abalone markers on the fret board and how nicely the word "Atlas" was inlaid on the headstock.  She ---Diane---is still playin' around town, the fellow who purchased it from me has it tuned and ready to go.  Maybe I will call him for some better pictures for your website.
Thanks for your cool guitar page, I check it out regurlarly,
